I’m scheduled to go into Hostgator to interview for a technical support job. Last week I had a phone interview for a Linux system administrator. I didn’t do very well but at least they thought my resume was good enough for a tech support position.
One question I knew I got wrong was where the configuration information for apache was kept. I had the right directory etc but blew it in the file name. I went apache.conf but it was httpd. I had no idea who the guy was and his name escapes me now. The email said I needed more command line experience. I agree.
Before the interview I spent a lot of time on Linux administration articles. One gave three skills every Linux admin should develop; command line, creating scripts that automate tasks, and making valid backups.
Tonight Brooke and I are going to JB’s Pub for the second week of the Smartest Buzztime Bar trivia contest. Last week we had an average in the high 50K’s. That put us in the high 40’s of an 80 team field. At least we are in the finals. Hopefully we’ll finish in the top half. I’m hoping a lot of the bars don’t get to play because of Monday Night Football QB1 players.
It’s not nice or showing good sportsmanship but I’m tired of trying to show good character so it will come back to me in good stead later in life. I’m 52 and later in life is here.
