I've done computer work for a very few companies.

My first grown-up job lasted 27 years at the Houston Chronicle.

Later I went to Austin to work as computer operator for the Texas Department of Transportation.  That contract lasted until the state consolidated the IT functions of most of the departments.

After a brief stint at a finance company I became a systems manager at a small (30+ employees) oil and gas risk consultancy.  They were bought by an almost billion-dollar company. ERM
